Week 33 – President’s Message

Good Evening Rotarians.

It was announced last Saturday at the ACom meeting that the Rotary Club of Cebu Port Center had completed the requirements for the Presidential Citation. We are now qualified to receive District Special Awards and Outstanding Awards. Let us congratulate each other for supporting all our club projects.

The Awards and Acknowledgements will be given at the Distas. I hope our PE Sam and the rest of his delegation ready to go accept our Club’s awards.

Reminder for the Distas delegation for attire. Opening ceremony: dark suit, light shirt, neck tie. Fellowship night: rock costume. Regular sessions: club uniform.

PE Sam is also very excited for his term. He wants to start early. He has communicated with our honorary member Rotaplast Director Evelyn Abad. The dates of our 15th Mission have been set. This years Mission will start on October 8 and end on October 23. We’re all looking forward to touch more lives.

The Principal of Tejero Elementary School called me last Thursday. The Secretary of Education will be launching Brigada Eskwela this May 15. He and the rest of the ManCom of the DepEd will be visting Tejero to look at our Alternative Learning School Building. It is still the only ALS in Cebu City. She is worried about the state of disrepair of our building. She sent me a quotation for the bill of materials. The principal will look for the labor volunteers. The cost is a little over P13,000. We will commit to fund the repainting of the ALS building. If we can give the funds tomorrow they will start work Wednesday and finish by Friday.

On the topic of Tejero Elementary School. Gawad Kalinga is looking for a structure to convert into a Central Kitchen for their Kusina ng Kalinga. They are inquiring about the possibility of converting the small structure beside the ALS into a central kitchen. I will ask them to make a presentation for their Kusina ng Kalinga on the 15th or 22nd.

We still have our water projects to continue. I hope they are ongoing. I will meet the heads this week for updates.

Thank you again for all the support you have given the club. Let us continue with the efforts in serving humanity.
